Some people hum mantras, some log hours at the gym, some sing in the shower, but baking has always been Jenny’s vice. Whipping egg whites and creaming butter got her through the awkward years of junior high, relieved stress, and helped her find joy through giving.
During college, Jenny taught English in India, and studied abroad in South Africa. This international exposure led her to a teaching job in Japan after graduation.
While teaching English in rural Japan, Jenny watched the rice paddies surrounding her apartment being plowed, cultivated, planted, being inhabited by frogs, and then the farmer’s family coming out for harvest. It was in that island country that Jenny came to appreciate eating local and seasonal food. Wearing low from the 60 hour work weeks, she realized that she needed to rekindle her passion.
The idea to study patisserie at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France hit her while in the shower in Japan. Later that year, she left Japan and moved to Paris.
In a city stereotyped as the place where foreigners learn the international language of love, Jenny learned the international language of food — baking it, burning it, sharing it…and learning how to really experience eating.
After returning to the States, Jenny immediately tried to find ways to stay in touch with international food trends while exploring her hometown and recipes of her native land with new eyes and a new palette. Twisting classic recipes with not-so-classic, international ingredients was the way, and “Made with a Twist” was created!

Hi Jenny,
Just wanted to share with you that I’m heading to LCB à Paris this summer! It’s quite a transition for me, but I’m very excited! Once we get all the visa paperwork, accomodation and related logistics out of the way, I am simply ready to experience life in Paris and give it my 1000% in school. Can’t wait!
Jenny! That’s great!! The few months leading up to it are kind of hectic, but also really exciting! Which program are you doing? Please email me if you have any questions or anything: jennyo0o@hotmail.com Can’t wait to follow what you do over there!
